Current Initiatives

Leave it Green is always looking for new green projects to support. Here, you can read about the current initiatives we are working on. If you know of a green project that we might be interested in supporting, send us an email.

The Green Fund

The Green Fund was started as a way to help support green projects on Slippery Rock’s campus financially. Spear-headed by Leave it Green, the Green Fund’s goal is to generate enough money from tuition to fund green projects, academic programs, and scholarships. Currently, The Green Fund is financed by donations from students, parents and the community. In the future, we hope to get a referendum from the student body to add $5 to standard tuition to help support these campus programs. With the money gathered from students, the Green Fund’s budget will be approximately $80,000 per year; all of which will be returned to the student body in the form of financial support for green programs on campus.

The Green Bike Initiative

The Green Bike Initiative is the brain-child of Dan Wilson, an avid biker and environmental enthusiast. Dan noticed a need for cheap, efficient transportation on Slippery Rock’s campus. Started in 2006, The Green Bike Initiative aims to provide community free-use (as in beer) bikes for students, faculty and the community to use. These bikes, actually painted green, can currently be found outside of classroom buildings and dormitories and are free for anyone to use. Leave it Green is helping the Green Bike Initiative by raising awareness and gathering support for this awesome program.
