The Plan in Brief

Our Goal

The goal of The Green Fund is to create a financial resource for green projects and programs on Slippery Rock University’s campus. By gathering a small fee from student’s tuition, the Green Fund will have an ample budget to support the following:

  • Student-run green projects
  • Scholarships and Grants for students
  • Educational programs
  • Environmental Awareness

How we plan to do it

Currently, The Green Fund is pursuing all options available to get the proper authorization from the University’s administration and student body. Already, several very active members of Leave it Green have been present at the following events:

  1. Hosted the Green Meeting, where the idea of The Green Fund was first proposed. Here, several student organizations presented the status of their projects and gathered useful information to help their programs grow.
  2. Attended a Student Government Association meeting to voice the Green Fund initiative to SRU’s governing student body. The Green Fund has successfully piqued the interest of several Executive Board and Senate members who are interested in hearing more about the program.
  3. Met with the Executive Director of University Advancement, Dr. Ed Bucha, who has identified himself as a supporter of The Green Fund.
  4. Started circulating a petition through the student body to gather support for the Green Fund initiative. Currently, we need 15% of the student body to sign the petition to get a vote through the SGA.

We still have a lot of work to do. You can read about all the updates as they happen, here.
